United Cup Showdown: Zverev's Dominance Levels the Score for Greece vs. Germany" Petros Replaces Stefanos Mix Doubles

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Alexander Zverev put on a flawless display of tennis, overpowering Stefanos Tsitsipas in a two-set victory at the United Cup.

Both players showcased their skills and played at a commendable level throughout the match. Zverev's solid baseline play effectively countered Tsitsipas' game, which proved to be quite frustrating for the latter.

Tsitsipas typically relies on his serve as a game-changer, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to its potential in this particular match. Consequently, he struggled to salvage himself during a challenging game, which ultimately shaped the course of the game. While Tsitsipas displayed a decent performance on his serve, utilizing his forehand and occasionally executing well-placed volleys and backhands, he failed to find a solution when faced with a rough patch in the first set. In fact, towards the end of the set, he completely lost control, unable to capitalize on the opportunities that came his way. Zverev, on the other hand, remained incredibly solid, with only a few errors and showcased remarkable composure in crucial moments. This was demonstrated in the second set when Zverev swiftly recovered from a 0-30 deficit during a critical moment in the game. Then, at 4-4, Zverev's impeccable play forced Tsitsipas to commit three unforced errors.

Notably, Zverev masterfully exploited Tsitsipas' weakness in his backhand, tactically capitalizing on it throughout the match. It was during this time that Zverev broke Tsitsipas' serve, taking a 5-4 lead, which he eventually secured with a confident service game. The match concluded with a final score of 6-4, 6-4, a narrow but sufficient victory for Zverev.

This levels the score at 1-1 between Greece and Germany. The much-anticipated doubles match is on the horizon, featuring Kerber and Zverev teaming up against Sakkari and and Petros Tsitsipas. There is no news why Stefanos has traded places with his brother.
