On January 6th, during an emergency landing in Greece, four passengers on an Egypt Air flight decided to hide in the restroom with the intention of staying in the country. The incident occurred when the flight from Cairo to Benghazi had to make an unexpected landing at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport due to bad weather conditions at its original destination. The plane had a total of 111 passengers and 6 crew members.

The captain of the aircraft did not allow the passengers to remain on board until takeoff, so they were escorted by police and security to the waiting area. They stayed there until 8:00 PM, and upon boarding again, it was discovered that four passengers were missing, as reported by CNN Greece.

These passengers, hoping to stay in Greece, attempted to conceal themselves in the restroom but were spotted by the police and subsequently taken back to the plane. At 9:05 PM, after a crew change, the plane finally departed for Benghazi.
