He was spotted by security officers travelling near Ioannina and was arrested
Faced with a maximum prison sentence of 20 years in Italy, the wanted 33-year-old Albanian was spotted by security officers travelling in an area of Ioannina in northwest Greece and was arrested on Sunday afternoon. He was internationally wanted.
As it was ascertained during the check carried out by the police on his data, a European Arrest Warrant had been issued against the Albanian by the authorities of the neighbouring country for the offences of participation in a criminal organisation and illegal trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances, which was pending.
The 33-year-old was taken to the competent prosecutor of Appeals of Ioannina, who ordered his detention and started the procedures for his extradition to Italy.
