Aegean Airlines is expanding its Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) program to European airports, marking a significant step towards greener travel.

Through a partnership with Shell & MOH Aviation, a leading fuel supplier, Aegean has secured SAF supplies for flights departing from Stockholm Arlanda Airport and London Heathrow Airport. This initiative reflects the airline's commitment to environmental responsibility and aligns with the European Union's green aviation targets.

""Our cooperation with Shell & MOH Aviation, a leading company in the industry and our stable partner for years, allows us to put into practice our decision to gradually extend the SAF use program on our flights from the airports of the international network that Aegean operates." said Dimitris Gerogiannis, CEO of Aegean.

Stamatis Petsis, CEO of Shell & MOH Aviation, echoed this sentiment, highlighting Aegean's leadership in green aviation within Greece and Europe. He expressed Shell & MOH Aviation's pleasure in supporting this initiative and accelerating the industry's progress towards carbon neutrality.

Aegean has been a trailblazer in sustainable aviation within Greece. Since July 2022, all flights departing from Thessaloniki's Macedonia Airport have been fueled with SAF blends. The airline also made history in 2021 by using SAF on the first commercial flight in Greece. Additionally, flights from Oslo's Gardena Airport have recently incorporated SAF blends, with further European airport expansions planned.

This move by Aegean Airlines demonstrates the airline industry's growing commitment to sustainable practices and a greener future for air travel.
