United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has expanded his Middle East tour itinerary to include a visit to Israel, as a last-minute addition, as announced by the State Department.

Blinken, who arrived in Saudi Arabia earlier as part of his regional tour, will also travel to Egypt on Thursday before concluding his trip in Israel.

His visit to Tel Aviv is scheduled for Friday, where he is expected to engage in discussions addressing regional issues, including ongoing ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas.

Despite recent talks in Qatar aimed at achieving a ceasefire agreement, negotiations have yet to yield a resolution to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

During his tour, Blinken has emphasised the importance of addressing governance, security, and post-conflict redevelopment in Gaza.

"We have done a lot of work since January, particularly with our Arab partners, and we will continue those talks, and to discuss what is the right architecture for lasting regional peace," Blinken stated during a press conference in Manila.
