Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and priests of the Archdiocese in New York were reportedly stunned when they heard SYRIZA leader Stefanos Kasselakis describe what happened when he was an infant and was baptized.

"Saint Tsalikis baptized me with Father Kyrillos, and a cross was formed in the water from the oil. Saint Tsaliks told my parents: 'He will either become a priest or very important,'" Mr. Kasselakis said, and both the description and the ... prophecy went uncommented on by the priests who heard him.

Stefanos Kasselakis met with Archbishop Elpidophoros as part of his visit to New York, where he attended the 25th of March parade on 5th Avenue and had contacts with diaspora organizations. In fact, after their meeting, the Archbishop of America wrote on his Twitter account that the SYRIZA leader respects and appreciates the role of the Church.

Church circles commented Kasselakisappeared to be a devout Christian, even reading the Creed in English during a service he attended.

The revelation of the incident and the "prophecy" of Saint Tsalikis has been making the rounds of social media in recent hours. However, the incident is neither confirmed nor denied by the GCT team.

It is noted that Saint James Tsalikis was a Greek monk from Asia Minor and abbot of the Monastery of Saint David in Evia. He is one of the most important figures in the monastic world in Greece in the 20th century. He distinguished himself for his ascetic monastic life, as well as for the gifts he developed, which classify him as one of the modern forms of holiness of the Orthodox Church. He fell asleep in 1991 at the age of 71.
