In the early hours of Tuesday morning, an ATM located within a supermarket in Patras's Ovria area became the target of an explosive attack. Unidentified individuals, their faces obscured by helmets, arrived at the scene on a motorcycle and proceeded to plant explosives on the ATM.
During their operation, the perpetrators noticed the presence of a security guard from a nearby construction site. They issued a warning to the guard before detonating the explosives, resulting in the destruction of the ATM.
Following the explosion, the assailants managed to abscond with an undisclosed amount of money from the damaged machine.
Authorities from the Patras Security division have initiated an investigation into the incident. Eyewitness testimonies, including that of the construction site guard, are being collected to aid in identifying the suspects. Additionally, efforts are underway to procure surveillance footage from surrounding security cameras to further the investigation.
