Brighton-le-Sands Welcomes Back the Greek Festival

The Greek Festival returns to Brighton-le-Sands after 21 years

The 42nd Sydney Greek Festival proudly announces its return to Brighton-Le-Sands after 21 years!

On Sunday, 26 May 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Bay Street will be filled with Greek colours, live Greek music, dance bands, and delicious Greek food in an outdoor festival that is expected to excite attendees.

The 42nd Greek Festival Sydney will officially conclude its program for 2024 with a day of celebration in seaside Brighton-Le-Sands, where dance groups from Sydney's Greek & Cypriot dance schools will amaze the audience. Many surprises, competitions, and activities for the young friends of the Festival, but also a multitude of stalls with Greek food as well as with authentic Greek products and services, will give an unparallel Greek atmosphere, reviving the Greek presence in the events of Bayside Council.

The highlight of the day and highly anticipated by Sydney audiences is the participation of the band IHO NYX, one of the most recognized local Greek bands with a unique style and sound. IHO NYX was founded in 2008 and initially focused on Cretan music but quickly evolved into one of the best-known and most recognized local music groups that cover a wide range of Greek music, such as “Entehna”, as well as contemporary and traditional sounds from the islands and mainland Greece.

This great effort to revive the Greek Festival at Bayside Council has the fervent support of Mayor Bill Saravinovski, who enthusiastically spoke about the importance of the Greek community in his area on the night of the official launch of the Sydney Greek Festival program for 2024 on February 22, 2024, at the Grand Roxy.

"The return of the Greek Festival to Brighton-Le-Saints could not have been achieved without the undivided support of the Honourable Steve Kamper, State Minister for Small Business, Minister of Lands and Property, Minister of Multiculturalism, Minister of Sport and Member for Rockdale" noted the President of Greek Orthodox Community of New South Wales Mr Haris Danalis.

"The Greek Festival of Sydney sincerely thanks Minister Kamper, not only for his contribution to the Festival's return to Brighton-Le-Sands but also for the opportunity given to us through this initiative to bring Greek Culture to a suburb that is buzzing with vitality and embraces multiculturalism with enthusiasm," said the President of the Greek Festival, Nia Karteris.

It is a date! May 26th at Bay Street, at the Greek festival @ Brighton-Le-Sands that is expected to delight with many surprises, Greek music, singing and dancing!
