Three Missing After Migrant Boat Distress Call South of Greece

Forty-two individuals were rescued after their boat, believed to be carrying migrants, issued a distress signal while navigating in the Mediterranean Sea south of the Greek island of Crete. However, three others remain missing.

The Greek coast guard received an alert from Italian authorities during the night about a vessel in distress approximately 31 miles south of Crete. Forty rescued passengers were taken aboard ships navigating nearby, with an additional two being rescued by a Greek navy helicopter.

According to the survivors, three individuals remain unaccounted for. Search and rescue efforts are currently underway in the surrounding area. The type of vessel the passengers were aboard and the cause of the distress signal remain unknown.
