Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis: "We Will Never Return to 2015"

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during a visit to Pyrgos in western Greece on Thursday, vowed that Greece would never return to the financial instability of 2015.

Highlighting the dire economic situation nearly a decade ago, Mitsotakis criticised the then-prevailing notion that money was abundant and promises could be made without proper costing, which led citizens to believe in unrealistic expectations.

Addressing the public, Mitsotakis stated emphatically, "We will never, ever, return to those times."

He also emphasised the importance of voting in the upcoming European elections on June 9, urging citizens not to be complacent. "We must never allow those who never changed, who adopt the same toxicity, the same populism, the same provocativeness in regard to what they promise you, to reclaim any dynamic at these elections," Mitsotakis warned. "Because we must never roll back, or give the impression there is even the slightest chance of returning to what we left behind us forever."

Mitsotakis stressed that a victory for New Democracy is essential for continuing efforts to improve daily life and elevate Greece's standard of living to be on par with the rest of Europe. He acknowledged past mistakes but assured that his party is committed to working hard for the country's future.
