Greece Demands Investigation into Deadly Gaza Airstrike, Urges Immediate Ceasefire

Greece has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrike on a camp for displaced Palestinians in Rafah, Gaza Strip, demanding a "thorough investigation" into the incident which resulted in the deaths of numerous civilians, including children.

The Greek Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over the attack, labeling it a tragedy and calling for immediate action to prevent further bloodshed. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of innocent lives, particularly women and children, in this devastating attack," the ministry stated.

The statement further emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire: "Greece reiterates its call for an immediate ceasefire, respect for humanitarian and international law by all parties, urgent entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and release of all hostages held by Hamas."

The airstrike, which targeted a tent camp housing Palestinians displaced by the ongoing conflict, has drawn widespread international condemnation. The incident has further fueled concerns about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, which has been under Israeli offensive since October 2023.

Greece's call for an investigation echoes the sentiments of many in the international community who are demanding accountability and an end to the violence. The statement serves as a reminder of the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and for ensuring the safety and well-being of civilians caught in the crossfire.
