Norwegian Man Acquitted for Posting Ad Seeking Female Companions in Rhodes

A Rhodes court on Monday acquitted a 53-year-old Norwegian man who faced charges for posting a notice outside a high school seeking female companionship.

The man’s mother testified at the misdemeanours court, explaining that her son had significant health issues. He corroborated this, stating that he did not realise he had posted the notice at a high school. He assumed the area, filled with party and concert posters, was a University of Aegean facility. The notice was intended for young women to accompany him to the sea to ensure his safety while swimming.

Initially charged with attempting to attract minors for sex, the man was arrested on June 7 by security police at a Rhodes restaurant, the designated meeting point mentioned in the notice.
