High Fire Risk Alert Issued for Attica and Evia Regions

The General Secretariat for Civil Protection has issued a high fire risk alert (category 4) for Wednesday in the Attica and Evia regions of Greece.

The Fire Risk Forecast Map highlights a significant threat of wildfires in these areas, urging state and local services to be on high alert for rapid response to any incidents.

To mitigate the risk, authorities have implemented aerial and ground patrols and imposed a precautionary ban on the circulation of vehicles and people within national parks, forests, and other high-risk zones.

Residents and visitors are advised to exercise extreme caution and avoid activities that could inadvertently ignite a fire. This includes refraining from burning vegetation, using spark-producing machinery, lighting barbecues, and discarding lit cigarettes. The public is reminded to report any fires immediately to the fire brigade by calling the emergency number 199.
