Stefanos Kasselakis Proposes Independent Audit of ND and SYRIZA Finances

Stefanos Kasselakis, leader of the main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, has challenged Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to commission an independent audit of the finances of both SYRIZA-PA and the ruling New Democracy (ND) party for the past decade.

Kasselakis made the proposal on social media, accusing ND of being the "queen of black money" in Greek politics and asserting that his SYRIZA would not accept illicit funds.

Kasselakis emphasised the need for transparency and integrity, stating that SYRIZA members unwilling to make difficult but necessary financial decisions should elect a different leader. He reiterated his commitment to honest financial practices, rejecting the "underground" methods he claims are prevalent in Greek politics.

He proposed that a reputable firm, such as Deloitte, conduct the audit, with full disclosure of all financial dealings, including those protected by confidentiality clauses. Kasselakis ended his message by urging Mitsotakis to join him in this effort to dismantle the "rotten system," even if it means risking his own political career.
