The Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMS) of the European Union reported on Friday that a total of 555.1 hectares were burnt in Attica during the weekend of June 29-30.
The breakdown of the affected areas includes 64.6 hectares in Katsimidi, Parnitha, 130 hectares in Stamata, and 360.5 hectares in Keratea.
Additionally, Copernicus EMS recorded 439.8 hectares of burnt land on the island of Kos on July 1. Earlier fires in Achaia and Ilia on June 21 caused extensive damage, burning 3,866.3 hectares, with an additional 103.3 hectares affected in Alpochori, Ilia.
These figures were determined through satellite image analysis by Copernicus EMS-Mapping, which was activated by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection to provide map products and data for emergency response and fire management.
