Greece is known for its varied and delicious food, which is why Taste Atlas often includes Greek food in its lists.
Various Greek dishes stand out, such as Dakos, a Cretan salad that is at the top of the list of the 100 best salads in the world, paidakia, which is among the top five lamb dishes in the world, and tzatziki, which is among the top five best dips worldwide.
This time, Taste Atlas made a taste map highlighting several Aegean islands. A few days ago, they did the same for Italy.
They chose the rozedes from Kythira, a classic wedding sweet, and the fatourada, a traditional liqueur.
Although a single dish represents most islands on the map, Crete stands out with many entries such as portokalopita, apaki, mizithra, tsikoudia, dakos, sofegada, graviera and mizithropita.
Other islands that appear on the map are Chios, Lesvos, Santorini, Mykonos, and Sifnos.
The 10 Most Popular Greek Dishes
The post also includes a link to the most popular Greek dishes, with gyros in first place and souvlaki in second place. In third place is the moussaka, followed by the Greek salad, tzatziki, pastitsio, spinach pie, yemista and horta. Keftedakia complete the top ten.
