Greek authorities have arrested a 36-year-old Israeli fugitive wanted on an international warrant for robbery and under investigation for a bomb attack in Israel, following a tip-off from Israeli officials.
Police stated that the man was sought by Israeli authorities to serve a 25-month prison sentence for robbery. He is also being investigated for his alleged involvement in an attempted homicide through a bomb attack on a different individual.
According to court documents, police received notice from Interpol on August 5, indicating that a “red notice” had been issued for his arrest due to his use of a forged passport while traveling. They determined that he arrived in Greece on July 20.
The suspect was apprehended outside a restaurant located near a Jewish synagogue in central Athens on August 6. Following his arrest, he appeared before Greek prosecutors, who have ordered his detention, as noted in the court documents.
