Australian tennis player Thanasi Kokkinakis, currently ranked 86th, has made a name for himself primarily on the doubles circuit. He achieved significant success by winning the Australian Open doubles title alongside Nick Kyrgios in 2022, reaching the top 15 in the same year.
Despite his greater success in doubles, Kokkinakis remains a formidable singles competitor, known for his powerful ball-striking. He has secured three top 10 victories in his career, including a memorable win against Roger Federer at the 2018 Miami Open, in their only career encounter.
While reflecting on the extraordinary careers of tennis legends Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, Kokkinakis shared his thoughts on who would make the best companion for a night out.
In an interview with fellow ATP player Felix Mischker, Kokkinakis highlighted Djokovic’s Olympic celebrations as a reason he’d be a great choice for a night out. “I heard Rafa doesn’t mind a night out,” Kokkinakis mentioned, recalling a party in Acapulco where he enjoyed some tequila with Nadal. “Fed’s is classy, so it would be more of a wine or champagne vibe,” he added.
However, when discussing the well-known footage of Djokovic’s lively Olympic celebrations, Kokkinakis concluded, “I reckon Novak would be loose! I have seen some videos. I reckon Novak would be a fun night out.”

Known for being a self-confessed homebody, Kokkinakis has returned to Australia to compete in several challenger events. Recently, he has achieved victories over players like Stefanos Tsitsipas and emerging talents Arthur Fils and Jakub Mensik. Despite not participating in the Shanghai or Paris Masters, Kokkinakis has not played a singles match since his Laver Cup debut in September. He is set to begin his Sydney campaign against American player Christian Langmo, who is currently ranked just inside the top 500.
