Christos Mastoras, the talented lead singer of the popular band MELISSES, was the guest on Tasos Tryfonos' show "Tet a Tet" on Alpha Cyprus, in an episode aired on December 22nd.
In this extensive interview, Mastoras touched on a wide range of topics, from his career and personal reflections to his recent experiences with the media.
The singer began by discussing his role as Stelios Kazantzidis in the film I Exist, which is currently showing in cinemas. He highlighted the differences between his own personality and that of the late iconic singer. He also spoke about his conversations with Marinella and the emotional impact of her words.
Mastoras then addressed his recent treatment by the media: "The truth is that, for many years, I enjoyed the media's favour; they probably liked me. I don't know. What happened recently really troubled me. After reflecting on the situation and studying how the media operates, I've come to terms with it. I had a brief outburst, but I've moved past it. I don't dwell on it, nor do I blame them."
He then commented on the nature of media interactions: "These kinds of lunches are common; it's nothing new. We all know what's discussed and how it unfolds: one person plays the 'good cop,' the other the 'bad cop,' and it creates a conversation that attracts attention."

The Marinella Incident
Mastoras also addressed a specific incident involving veteran singer Marinella: "I was caught off guard, to be honest. I'm a little emotional, and I sometimes react in unexpected ways. I'm not media-trained. The moment itself can be a powerful force. I admit I reacted poorly; there was no reason for such a reaction. I felt pressured, and the situation with Marinella, who is still in the hospital, was also difficult. I couldn't handle it."
Furthermore, in the interview, Mastoras spoke about his advocacy for the rights of Northern Epirotes and his meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. He also recounted his family's move from his village to Athens and his journey to becoming a well-known musician, sharing his passion for music. He also revealed insights into his relationship and collaboration with Giorgos Dalaras and his personal anxieties and searches as a person and an artist.
