United Cup: Greece Competes for Top Spot Against Kazakhstan

Stefanos Tsitsipas, Maria Sakkari

After the tense victory against Spain in their opener at the United Cup, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari return to RAC Arena in Perth on Monday for the second round of Group C.

Greece will face Kazakhstan, who also won their opening match against Spain with a score of 2-1.

Tsitsipas, who defeated Pablo Carreno Busta in three sets, will compete in the first match early Monday morning (04:00 GR – ERT2) against Alexander Shevchenko, marking their first meeting on the tour.

The 24-year-old Kazakh, ranked No. 74 in the world, was easily defeated by Carreno Busta in his United Cup debut.

Following this will be an interesting match as Maria Sakkari faces world No. 6, Elena Rybakina, in their fifth meeting.

Rybakina leads 3-1 in wins against the 29-year-old Greek, who is ranked No. 31 in the WTA.

In the final match of the encounter, Sakkari and Tsitsipas will take on Rybakina/Shevchenko.

With a victory, Greece secures a place in the tournament quarterfinals. Even with a loss, Greece still has a chance to advance as the group's second-best team.
