Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan strongly condemned former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal for the United States to take control of the Gaza Strip and relocate Palestinians to other countries, calling it “unacceptable,” according to Agence France-Presse.
“This is an issue neither we nor the region can accept,” Fidan told the Anadolu news agency on Wednesday, emphasizing that even discussing such a plan was inappropriate.
Trump claimed he would transform the war-ravaged territory by clearing unexploded bombs and rubble and spearheading economic redevelopment. However, he did not elaborate on how he intended to relocate more than two million Palestinians.
“The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it, too. We’ll own it,” Trump stated.
