Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem Challenges Property Seizure by Jerusalem Municipality Over Alleged Debt

The Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem has raised concerns over the Jerusalem Municipality's efforts to seize its centuries-old properties. According to a report on their X platform, the municipality plans to auction these properties to recover purported community debts dating back to 1994.

In response, the Patriarchate has submitted an administrative petition seeking to halt this process. The petition challenges the actions of a Jerusalem Municipality collection officer who allegedly assessed a significant debt against the Patriarchate without considering the statute of limitations or providing clear evidence to support the claim.

The Armenian Patriarchate notes that it is the only Christian community subjected to these severe and potentially irreversible measures over the alleged debt.
