Greek Airlines Disrupt Flights on February 28 Due to Nationwide Strike

SKY Express

Greek airlines AEGEAN and SKY Express are canceling and rescheduling flights on February 28 due to a 24-hour general strike called by the Civil Servants’ Confederation (ADEDY). The strike, also supported by the Hellenic Air Traffic Controllers Union, coincides with the second anniversary of the Tempi railway disaster.

AEGEAN Airlines:

  • All domestic and international flights are canceled on February 28, except for late-night/early-morning flights to and from Larnaca, Yerevan, and Cairo.
  • Flights on February 27 and March 1 may also be affected.
  • AEGEAN is adding extra flights and seats before and after the strike.
  • Affected passengers can reschedule flights (free re-issuance until December 31, 2025) or receive a credit voucher.

SKY express:

  • All scheduled flights are canceled on February 28, except for rescheduled flights between Larnaca and Thessaloniki.
  • Passengers can choose a free ticket change (valid until December 31, 2025), a full refund, or a 12-month credit voucher.
  • Passengers must choose an option by February 28, 2025.

Broader Impact:

  • The strike will also halt train services (Hellenic Train) and ferry operations (Pan-Hellenic Seamen’s Federation).
  • Taxi drivers will strike from 10 am to 1 pm.
  • Potential disruptions to other public transport are unconfirmed.

The nationwide strike protests the Tempi train crash and the general state of worker safety.
