Former Child Star Michelle Trachtenberg, Known for ‘Harriet the Spy’ and ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer,’ Dies at 39

Michelle Trachtenberg, the former child star known for her role in the 1996 film “Harriet the Spy,” has passed away at the age of 39. She gained further recognition in the early 2000s with prominent roles in popular TV series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Gossip Girl.”

According to an NYPD statement, police responded to a 911 call shortly after 8 a.m. at a luxury residential building in midtown Manhattan, where they found a 39-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene, and authorities reported that no foul play is suspected. The New York Medical Examiner is currently investigating the cause of death.

Representatives for Trachtenberg have not yet made a statement regarding the incident. Her passing was initially reported by the New York Post.
