Patriarch Theophilos Leads Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre During Clean Wednesday Services

On Clean Wednesday, March 5, 2025, His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem presided over the Divine Liturgy of the Pre-Sanctified Gifts at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, accompanied by bishops, priests, monks, nuns, and pilgrims. The service was followed by a tour of the sacred sites led by His Eminence Archbishop Isidoros, with Greek Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni joining the delegation.

From the morning of Clean Monday, February 18th / March 3rd, 2025, to Clean Wednesday, February 20th / March 5th, 2025, Matins with the Hours were held in the morning, followed by the service of the Great Compline in the evening.

On Wednesday morning, Matins was followed by the Divine Liturgy of the Pre-Sanctified Gifts, led by His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem. The Holy Sepulchre Fathers, bishops, priests, monks, nuns, pilgrims, and Professor Yagos attended the service.

On the same morning, the first Divine Liturgy of the Pre-Sanctified Gifts was celebrated on the Holy Golgotha by His Eminence Archbishop Isidoros of Hierapolis, the Elder Sacristan. He was joined by the priests of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the chief chanter, Deacon Eustathios Tsoumanis, with the participation of a devoted congregation of monks, nuns, and pilgrims. Among the pilgrims was Her Excellency the Minister of Culture of the Hellenic Republic, Ms. Lina Mendoni, accompanied by her staff and the Consul General of Greece in Jerusalem, Mr. Dimitrios Angelosopoulos.

After the service, His Eminence Archbishop Isidoros guided Her Excellency and her delegation on a tour of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and nearby sacred sites. Following the tour, a small fasting refreshment was offered in the Church's office.
