The worker is in a coma in the hospital, and it is unknown whether he will recover.

The Pakistani farm worker, who was being held at the Amygdaleza detention center, where he attempted to end his life last week, is being treated at the “Agioi Anargyroi” General Oncology Hospital.

According to a statement from KEERFA (Broad movement against fascism and the far-right in Greece), Hashir Latif, initially reported as Hashir Ali, is in a coma in the hospital and it is unknown whether he will be able to recover.

So far, the Hellenic Police, which is responsible for operating the detention centers, has not provided any information about the incident or the condition of Hashir Latif, despite being asked by Ef.Syn.

Videos show fellow prisoners performing CPR on Hashir Latif after the found him hanging with a sheet on March 20.

Hashir Latif was arrested near Patras for not having papers to legally stay in Greece. He was working on a farm near Patras but was then held in the Corinth detention center for 18 months.

For reasons not yet understood, he was released after six months but was arrested again six months ago with other illegal immigrants and held at the Amygdaleza detention center.
