Film stars Klelia Andriolatou of Netflix’s “Maestro in Blue” and award-winning actor Kostas Koronaios.
Astoria, NY — April 15, 2025 — The Hellenic Film Society USA (HFS) will present the critically acclaimed Greek psychological thriller The Last Taxi Driver on Sunday, April 27, at 3:00 PM at the Museum of the Moving Image (Momi) in Astoria. The screening is part of the Society’s Always on Sunday series, which showcases Greek films for New York audiences each month.
Written and directed by Stergios Paschos, the film stars Kostas Koronaios, who won Best Actor at both the Thessaloniki Film Festival and the New York Greek Film Expo, and Klelia Andriolatou, best known internationally for her role in Netflix’s hit series Maestro in Blue.
Set in contemporary Athens, The Last Taxi Driver follows a middle-aged cab driver whose life takes a dark turn after witnessing the suicide of a passenger. Trapped in a dead-end existence, he becomes dangerously obsessed with a young woman, played by Andriolatou. The erotically charged thriller explores loneliness, desperation, and the fragile line between fantasy and reality.
The film has received widespread recognition in Greece and abroad, earning five nominations at the 2024 Hellenic Film Academy Awards and winning Best Picture from the Greek Association of Film Critics.
“The screenplay written by Paschos and the performances by Kostas Koronaios and Klelia Andriolatou keep us on the edge of our seats and waiting in anticipation to see what happens next,” said Hellenic Film Society President Maria Miles.
The Last Taxi Driver will be shown in Greek with English subtitles and is recommended for mature audiences.
Tickets and additional information, including a trailer, are available at www.hellenicfilmusa.org. The Museum of the Moving Image is located at 36-01 35th Avenue in Astoria and is easily accessible via public transportation.
