Brighton Set to Sign Greek Starlet Charalampos Kostoulas, Beating Manchester United

Brighton and Hove Albion are poised to secure the signature of 18-year-old Greek talent Charalampos Kostoulas from Olympiacos, leaving Manchester United disappointed.

Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe took charge of Manchester United’s operations in February 2024, the club has prioritized signing young, promising talents like Sekou Kone, Chido Obi, Ayden Heaven, Patrick Dorgu, and Leny Yoro. Kostoulas, a standout in Olympiacos’ youth system, was reportedly on United’s radar.

Kostoulas made history as Olympiacos’ youngest-ever debutant at 15, playing for their B team against Irodotos in Greece’s second division. He played a key role in Olympiacos’ youth team winning the UEFA Youth League, scoring five goals in eight matches. Since then, he has featured regularly for the senior team, netting seven goals in 35 appearances.

However, Brighton have swooped in with a £34m deal for the young forward. Journalist Ben Jacobs reported on X that Kostoulas is scheduled for a medical with Brighton on Wednesday. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the transfer, noting that the deal is finalized, with the medical set to take place this week.

Barring any unexpected issues, Kostoulas will join Brighton, and Manchester United will miss out on the promising star this summer.
