After his sacking from Tottenham Hotspurs, Greek-Australian Ange Postecoglou, has emerged as a top target for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli. Despite leading Spurs to their first major trophy in 17 years with a Europa League victory, Postecoglou is now being eyed by the ambitious Saudi Pro League side, which plans to initiate immediate talks with him.
According to a report by The Telegraph on Friday (June 13), Al-Ahli will not continue with current manager Matthias Jaissle, who is keen on a return to European football after winning the AFC Champions League.
Postecoglou has been identified as the No. 1 candidate to take over the Saudi club, which boasts several former Premier League stars in its squad, including Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, Édouard Mendy, and Ivorian winger Allan Saint-Maximin (referred to as "Toney" in the original text, likely a typo).
The move signals Al-Ahli's intent to strengthen further under their Saudi-backed project, while Postecoglou could be set for a new challenge after his successful stint in North London.
