14 Year Old Girl Raped After Meeting on TikTok

A 14 year old girl has been violently raped by three perpetrators aged 16 to 20, in Piraeus, the port city adjacent to Athens, after planning to meet one of them via TikTok.

According to information from protothema.gr , the nightmare began when the girl starting talking to one of the perpetrators on Tik Tok and they agreed to meet.

The minor then got into his car and he took her to his house, dragging her inside where he, along with two other males, one of which was his brother, raped her. A fourth young male allegedly remained outside on a balcony while the incident took place.

When they finally released her, the young girl took to the streets of Piraeus in a state of shock. At dawn, the girl’s parents realised she had not returned home and began searching the area in growing alarm. She was eventually located by a DIAS team (special motorcycle police unit) a few hours later.

After she disclosed what had happened, officers took her to hospital for examination. According to reports, the medical staff were visibly shaken by the extent of her injuries and the evidence confirming she had been subjected to gang sexual assault.

The case has been assigned to the Juvenile Protection Department of the Hellenic Police. Three of the perpetrators have been arrested, while a manhunt has been launched to trace the fourth suspect still at large.

The incident has once again brought to light the very serious risks both children and adults face when interacting with strangers online. According to the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, one in five children in Europe has experienced some form of sexual solicitation or abuse online. A 2023 study by Europol reported that the number of online grooming cases across the EU has risen sharply, with offenders increasingly using social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and encrypted messaging apps to contact potential victims.

Authorities advise never agreeing to meet someone in person without informing a trusted adult or friend and recommend families establish clear rules about online interactions with individuals they do not know in real life.
