Tsitsipas Trains in Toronto with Father Apostolos by His Side

Stefanos Tsitsipas was back on the practice court in Toronto on Friday, guided by his father, Apostolos Tsitsipas, just days after parting ways with coach Goran Ivanisevic.

Stefanos Tsitsipas trained in Toronto on Friday with his father, Apostolos, coaching him after parting ways with Goran Ivanisevic. The former World No. 3 rallied with Karen Khachanov, preparing for a strong run at the National Bank Open.

The former World No. 3, now ranked 23rd seed, trained under the Canadian sun alongside Karen Khachanov, engaging in lengthy crosscourt rallies. The 2018 National Bank Open finalist, with a 19-13 record this season per the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, is aiming for a strong showing in Toronto.

Tsitsipas addressed his split with Ivanisevic on Instagram, saying, “Working with Goran Ivanisevic was brief but an intense experience and a truly valuable chapter in my journey. I’m thankful for the time, effort, and energy he dedicated to me and my team.”

Ivanisevic, speaking to HRT, described their amicable parting: “We had a nice chat… there’s no bad blood, we thanked each other. He decided to try again with his father. I honestly mean this, the only person who can coach him is his dad. He played the best tennis with him.”

Tsitsipas will face Christopher O’Connell or a qualifier in the second round in Toronto.
