At least 54 migrants perished when a boat carrying approximately 150 people sank off Yemen’s coast in stormy weather on Sunday, with dozens still missing, health officials report.
The incident occurred off the Ahwar district in Abyan province along the Arabian Sea, security sources said. Provincial health official Abdul Qadir Bajameel confirmed 10 survivors—nine Ethiopians and one Yemeni—were rescued from the estimated 150 passengers. Two medics stated that rescue operations are ongoing to find those still unaccounted for.
