The Government of the Republic of Cyprus has firmly reiterated its support for the electrical interconnection project, addressing recent concerns sparked by widespread misinformation. In a statement released today, the government clarified that the project remains on track for implementation.
Officials emphasized that the project will adhere to principles of transparency and integrity, explicitly rejecting opaque practices seen in other sectors, such as agricultural subsidies in Greece or public works in Cyprus between 2008 and 2023. The government underscored that honest and transparent management is a non-negotiable condition for the project's advancement and successful completion.
The statement also warned that any questionable practices could be exploited by internal or external opponents to derail the initiative. The government assured the public that the project will proceed in a transparent and ethical manner, prioritizing the interests of Cypriot Hellenism.
