Adelaide’s Greek community will bid farewell today to beloved entertainer Stelio Mitsos, remembered fondly as “DJ Stelio,” in a service at St Dimitrios Church in Salisbury Plain.
Mitsos, who passed away suddenly on September 13 at age 56, will be farewelled in the suit he wore during his final performance just a week before his death. Hundreds are expected to gather on Tuesday morning to pay tribute to the man who brought music, joy, and unforgettable memories to countless celebrations.
The popular DJ collapsed at his Salisbury home earlier this month after suffering a cardiac arrest. Despite the efforts of his wife, Priscilla, and paramedics, he could not be revived.
Over the course of decades in the entertainment scene, Mitsos became a fixture at weddings, parties, and sell-out shows. In 2022, he founded Glamour Entertainment, helping bring leading Greek performers to Adelaide audiences. Known for his warmth and signature sets, he left an indelible mark on the community’s celebrations.
Following his passing, friends and fans flooded social media with tributes, sharing memories of him performing at their milestones and community events.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Priscilla, who said simply, “We were happy, just the two of us.”
The funeral service will begin at 10 am today at St Dimitrios Church, where a large gathering is expected to celebrate the life of a man who lit up Adelaide’s dancefloors and hearts.
