New York, 23 September 2025 – Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday at the Ukrainian delegation’s office in New York, reaffirming the Orthodox Church’s steadfast support for Ukraine amid Russia’s ongoing war of aggression.

Archbishop Elpidophoros of America accompanied the Patriarch during the meeting. Bartholomew expressed his unwavering solidarity with the Ukrainian people and conveyed hope for a swift and victorious end to the conflict.

President Zelenskyy invited the Ecumenical Patriarch to visit Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of spiritual and moral support as the country continues to endure the pressures of nearly three years of conflict.

During the meeting, Patriarch Bartholomew presented Zelenskyy with a book on Ukraine authored by Archbishop Elpidophoros.

The encounter took place as global leaders convened in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, where Ukraine’s struggle and Russia’s ongoing aggression remain central topics of discussion.
