Greek Sprinter Gavelas Claims Gold at World Para Athletics Championships

Greek sprinter Nasos Gavelas, 25, clinched the gold medal in the 100 meters T11 event for visually impaired athletes at the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi.

With a time of 10.96 seconds, he was the only competitor to break the 11-second mark, securing Greece’s first gold of the event. This victory adds to his Paralympic golds from Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024.

The Greek team earned five medals overall: Thanassis Konstantinidis took silver in shot put (F32), Alexandros Skourtis claimed bronze in the 400 meters (T38), Konstantinos Tzounis secured bronze in discus (F56), and Lida Manthopoulou won bronze in the 100 meters (T38).
