Greek-Australian Butcher’s Torrensville Shop Torched in Suspicious Early Morning Fire

A Torrensville butcher shop owned by Greek-Australian Peter Marinis was deliberately set on fire early Monday, leaving the local community shocked.

Corinthian Meats on Henley Beach Road was broken into and torched just before 5:30 am. Fire crews quickly contained the blaze, preventing major structural damage. Thankfully, no one was inside at the time, and no injuries were reported.

“This is devastating,” said Mr. Marinis. “I don’t know why anyone would do this—I just got a call from the police.”

The fire gutted the interior, leaving counters and floors blackened by soot. Neighboring businesses also experienced minor smoke damage. Henley Beach Road was temporarily closed while firefighters worked, but has since reopened.

Fire investigators are examining the scene to determine the cause of the fire. Police are urging anyone who witnessed suspicious activity near the butcher shop, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au.
