Nottingham Forest have sacked Australian manager Ange Postecoglou just 39 days into his tenure following a 3-0 loss to Chelsea. The defeat, which left Forest 17th in the Premier League standings, marked Postecoglou as the shortest-serving permanent manager in the competition’s history.

The club announced his dismissal 18 minutes after the match, citing "a series of disappointing results and performances." Postecoglou failed to secure a single win in eight games, with two draws and six losses across all competitions, including just one point from five Premier League matches.

Club owner Evangelos Marinakis left his seat before the final whistle, signaling the end for Postecoglou. Fans booed at full time as the manager stood alone, applauding the remaining supporters at the City Ground.

Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca expressed sympathy, stating, “It’s a business where you need to win games, or the consequences are the same for all of us.”

Postecoglou, reflecting on his struggles, told media, “I just don’t fit — not here, just in general. If you see me as a failed manager, then these five weeks look like I’m under pressure.”

Nottingham Forest confirmed no further comment would be made at this time.
