Nottingham Forest Set to Appoint Sean Dyche as New Manager After Ange Postecoglou's Sacking

Sean Dyche has verbally agreed to become Nottingham Forest's new manager, replacing Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked on Saturday, October 18, after just 39 days in charge following a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea.

Ange Postecoglou’s triumph is a lesson to always bet on yourself and never stop believing. 18 years ago he was making ends meet by working at his mate’s football shop and private coaching kids in a suburban Melbourne park. Now he’s the toast of the football world. What a journey!

Negotiations advanced swiftly on Sunday night, with both sides eager to finalize the deal ahead of Forest’s Europa League clash against Porto on Thursday. While some legal details remain, and paperwork is yet to be signed, Dyche could be confirmed as early as Monday, Sky Sports News reports.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis considered several candidates, including Dyche—a former Forest trainee—Roberto Mancini, and Fulham’s Marco Silva, to succeed Postecoglou. However, the club’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) restrictions, compounded by significant compensation payments to sacked managers Nuno Espirito Santo and Postecoglou, make Dyche and Mancini more feasible options, as they require no compensation fees. Silva, despite Marinakis’ long-standing admiration from his time at Olympiacos, would command a hefty fee from Fulham, who have received no approach for their manager.

Marinakis views this appointment as critical to restoring stability and belief in the squad and fanbase after a turbulent period. Dyche is seen as the ideal candidate to organize and motivate the team, ensure Premier League survival, and maximize the club’s £180m summer transfer investment, with £130m of that talent notably absent from the matchday squad against Chelsea—a point of contention between Marinakis and Postecoglou.
