AHEPA MARATHON MILTIADES Honors Transplant Athlete Sifis Tzouganakis: A Symbol of Human Strength and Perseverance

When emotion and pride meet, people create remarkable moments. The AHEPA MARATHON MILTIADES Chapter today paid tribute to marathon and track athlete Sifis Tzouganakis, celebrating his extraordinary journey of resilience and determination. Having undergone a kidney transplant, Tzouganakis continues to compete at a high level, driven by his ambition to break the world record in the 400 meters at the 2027 World Transplant Games in Brussels.

During the ceremony, Mr. George Vermbis, President, Mr. George Tzanetis, Secretary General and Mr. John Venetis, Chairman of the Athletic Committee, officially announced the chapter’s decision to welcome and support both Sifis Tzouganakis and his coach, George Loufekis. AHEPA MARATHON MILTIADES pledged to stand by the athlete’s side through concrete and meaningful initiatives, including:

  • Enhancing their public visibility and media presence through strategic partnerships and effective communication networks.
  • Coordinating and securing sponsorships to facilitate their training and international participation.

The initiative has already attracted key supporters, such as Nikolas Papazisis, CEO of Thiseas Rehabilitation Center, who has been an official supporter and contributor from its inception. Additional thanks were extended to Mrs. Sylvia Ralli, CEO and owner of MEDATHENS and Mr. Vassilios Nicolaos Vitsilogianis, Communications and Advertising Consultant of MEDATHEND, for their generous contributions.

This effort forms part of the wider mission of AHEPA MARATHON MILTIADES, which promotes the timeless values of Hellenism, excellence and human transcendence through cultural, athletic and philanthropic initiatives.

Sifis Tzouganakis embodies the belief that true victory lies not on the podium but in the unyielding power of the human spirit. His story serves as a poignant reminder that life’s value is not measured by the obstacles we face, but by the courage with which we continue to move forward.

AHEPA MARATHON MILTIADES invites citizens, institutions and businesses to join in supporting this remarkable journey.
Because when one person runs to surpass human limits, society as a whole can move ahead.
