Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will host a high-level meeting today November 3, in Istanbul to discuss the ongoing situation in Gaza, according to sources from Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting will bring together the foreign ministers of Islamic nations who previously met with former U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly in New York on September 23. Participants are expected to include representatives from Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan.
Discussions will focus on the ceasefire efforts and the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Sources in Ankara said Minister Fidan plans to argue that Israel is attempting to undermine the ceasefire and will urge the international community to take a firm stance against what he calls Israel’s provocative actions.
Fidan is also expected to stress the importance of coordination among Muslim countries to ensure that the current truce leads to lasting peace. He will call for expanded humanitarian aid to Gaza and advocate for mechanisms that allow Palestinians to govern and secure Gaza themselves.
Finally, the Turkish foreign minister will reaffirm Turkey’s support for a two-state solution as the only path toward sustainable peace in the region.
