Andros has received international recognition after being voted the best walking destination in Greece for 2025 by British travelers. The island was nominated in the annual Greek Travel Awards, organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) office in the UK for the past four years.
The British public responded enthusiastically to the nomination, selecting Andros as the top Greek destination for hiking next year. The award was presented during a special ceremony hosted by the GNTO on Tuesday, November 5, following the first day of the WTM 2025 international tourism exhibition in London.
The accolade brings significant exposure for Andros in the UK, with respected journalists, bloggers, and tourism professionals attending the event. Voting for the 2025 Greek Travel Awards was conducted in collaboration with IceLolly and Travelsupermarket, two of the UK’s leading travel comparison and booking platforms.
In recent months, the GNTO UK office and the Municipality of Andros have worked closely on promotional initiatives to enhance the island’s visibility.
“Many thanks to Eleni Skarveli, Director of the GNTO UK office, for the excellent organization, rapid response, and tireless efforts that have strengthened the destination’s recognition in the British market,” said Nikos Moustakas, Andros’ Municipal Councillor for Tourism. “This award also highlights the dedication of Andros Routes, the island’s volunteers who maintain and clean the trails, local organizations, and the Municipality itself.”
