Greek Ministry Honours Kilkis for Best Cultural App Idea

The Kilkis Ephorate of Antiquities has won the Second Digital Governance Award 2024 in the category of “Best Applied Idea” under the theme “Education – Sports – Culture.” The award was presented by Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance.

The Ephorate received the distinction for its project titled “Digital Cultural Routes in the Regional Unit of Kilkis Using New Technologies.” The initiative offers visitors six curated cultural routes featuring 43 stops at monuments and sites of archaeological, historical, and natural interest across the region.

Through the interactive application, users can access details about the duration and distances between each stop, along with accompanying texts in both Greek and English. The digital experience is further enriched with audiovisual content, including photographs, short videos, and 360º 3D virtual tours of selected monuments.

Online visitors can explore the cultural heritage of Kilkis through the Ephorate’s official website at www.efa-kilkis.gr. By selecting the “Routes” section from the main menu, users can digitally tour each route individually.
