Drug Trafficking Ring Led by 61-Year-Old Woman Dismantled in Athens – Four Arrested, Large Quantities of Narcotics Seized

Greek police have dismantled a major drug trafficking organization operating in central Athens and the suburb of Vyronas, with a 61-year-old woman identified as the ringleader.

According to the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.), the group was involved in distributing significant quantities of heroin, unprocessed cannabis, and methadone. The leader had assigned specific roles to three men aged 56, 51, and 40.

During a coordinated police operation on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, officers from the Narcotics Division of the Organized Crime Directorate arrested all four members of the organization in various parts of Attica.

The investigation also implicates an additional 35 individuals accused of violating drug laws. Police said that, following an extensive intelligence operation and data analysis, the suspects were found to have sourced, stored, and distributed narcotics across Athens.

Authorities detailed the structure of the organization as follows:

  • The 61-year-old woman acted as the leader, responsible for acquiring drugs, supplying members, and overseeing sales.

  • A 56-year-old man served as her deputy, assisting in sourcing and storing narcotics.

  • A 51-year-old man provided logistical support, handling transport and distribution upon orders from the leader.

  • A 40-year-old man bought drugs from the leader and resold them to small-scale dealers in central Athens and Vyronas, later handing over the proceeds.

Police searches uncovered:

  • 56 grams of heroin

  • 421.4 grams of unprocessed cannabis

  • Three precision electronic scales

  • €813 in cash

  • Numerous plastic packaging materials

  • A car, a motorcycle, and four mobile phones

Authorities estimate that the group conducted over 200 drug transactions during its operation.

Three of the arrested suspects have prior criminal records for similar offenses, and two were already under restrictive judicial conditions. All four detainees have been referred to the competent prosecutor for further legal proceedings.
