Patriarch Bestows Honour On Trump Adviser Christos Marafatsos

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has conferred the title of Archon “Didaskalos tou Genous” upon Greek-American entrepreneur and U.S. presidential adviser Christos Marafatsos, in a ceremony conducted in the United States by Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.

Marafatsos—known for his advisory role to former President Donald Trump, his founding of the Greeks for Trump organization, and his close cooperation with U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle—received one of the highest distinctions granted by the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

In a statement posted on social media, Marafatsos described the honor as a “sacred responsibility”, saying it commits him to defend the Ecumenical Patriarchate, safeguard religious freedom, and serve both the Orthodox Christian faith and Hellenic heritage with devotion to past and future generations.

He expressed deep gratitude to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Archbishop Elpidophoros, Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey, and the Archon mentors who guided him on this journey and entrusted him with this significant distinction.

Marafatsos also thanked his wife Andrea, their daughter Markella, and his parents and siblings for their support, guidance, and lifelong example. “May God guide me to serve with humility and honour,” he concluded.
