Greek Shoppers Target Fashion and Tech This Black Friday

Greek consumers are showing heightened shopping intent ahead of this year’s Black Friday, according to a recent survey conducted by Klarna among 1,000 respondents aged 18 to 77.

The survey revealed that 87.9% of participants plan to make purchases, with fashion and technology products leading the way. Specifically, 37.7% intend to buy clothing items, while 35.3% are eyeing technology products, echoing last year’s top categories, though technology held the slight lead in 2024 at 38.2%.

Other popular purchase intentions include Christmas gifts (22.7%) and home goods (20.3%), while 25.5% are undecided about what they will buy, a figure recorded one week before Black Friday.

The trend toward online shopping remains strong, with nearly six in ten consumers (58%) planning to research and purchase products online, compared to 16.8% opting for in-store purchases.

Regarding spending, 31.1% plan to spend €101-250, 26.3% €51-100, and 19% €251-500, highlighting a careful budgeting approach. This financial caution is further reflected in shopping behavior: 41.2% will check prices before Black Friday deals, 34.3% will buy only what they can afford, and 25.3% remain skeptical about the authenticity of discounts, a slight decrease from 32% last year.

Payment preferences are also evolving, with debit cards (54.9%) remaining the top choice, followed by credit cards (19.9%) and cash (18.9%). Notably, flexible and interest-free payment options, including Buy Now, Pay Later, grew by nearly 29% compared to last year, reflecting changing consumer preferences.
