New York Hosts World Premiere of “Kapodistrias”

The highly anticipated film “Kapodistrias – The Governor” by acclaimed director Giannis Smaragdis made its international premiere in Astoria, New York, marking the official launch of its cinematic journey. The screening took place at the Museum of the Moving Image, illuminating the life, work, and lasting impact of Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first Governor of Greece.

The premiere was held in the presence of Greece’s Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, underscoring the cultural significance of the film for both Greece and the global Greek community.

Among those attending were:

  • Giannis Smaragdis, Director

  • Natalia Kapodistria, actress and great-granddaughter of the Governor

  • Minos Matsas, Composer of the film’s score

The Consulate General congratulated the coalition of Greek organizations that collaborated to bring this premiere to New York. This dynamic partnership included:
