Passenger Saves 40 People After Bus Driver Has Cardiac Arrest

A major accident was narrowly avoided early on Thursday morning after a private bus carrying 40 Public Power Corporation (DEI) employees veered off the Ptolemaida–Kozani road when its driver suffered a sudden cardiac arrest mid-route.

The incident occurred near the “Bora-Bora” area during the regular Ptolemaida–Aghios Dimitrios power station commute. According to initial reports, the bus struck metal safety barriers and ended up off the road as the 56-year-old driver collapsed behind the wheel.

A quick-thinking colleague on board noticed the driver was unresponsive, immediately grabbed the steering wheel and hit the brakes, bringing the vehicle to a halt before a larger tragedy could unfold.

Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate the driver using CPR, but he was later pronounced dead.

All 40 workers on board escaped unharmed and continued their journey with another vehicle.
