Elon Musk has issued a fresh barrage of criticism against the European Union in a series of posts on X, reacting to the €120 million fine imposed on the social media platform for violating transparency rules.

The billionaire entrepreneur accused the EU of lacking democratic foundations, writing that the European Union “is not a democracy — rule by the people — but rather a bureaucracy run by unelected officials.” His comments reflect growing tension between Musk and European regulators over compliance with the bloc’s strict digital governance framework.
Musk also reposted another user’s criticism of European commentators, who said it was “hilarious” to watch Europeans lecture Americans about staying out of EU politics while spending years posting obsessively against former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Adding to the inflammatory tone, Musk wrote: “Indeed, there are so many politicians in Europe who are traitors to their own people,” continuing his sharp verbal assault on EU political institutions and elected officials.
The latest exchange underscores Musk’s escalating conflict with EU regulators as enforcement of transparency and content-moderation standards intensifies across the bloc.
