Melbourne, 9 December 2025 – Bentleigh Greens have been crowned 2025 Greek Community Cup champions after a heart-stopping final against Box Hill United ended 3-3 after full time, with Bentleigh triumphing 3-2 in the penalty shootout – their first-ever title.
In front of a passionate crowd at Mill Park, Bentleigh took an early lead (10’), Box Hill equalised before half-time, then surged ahead after the break. Bentleigh levelled almost immediately, before a late 85th-minute goal looked to have sealed victory. In the dying seconds, Box Hill produced a miraculous header from a free kick to force penalties and send the stadium into frenzy.
Earlier, Mill Park thrilled the home supporters with a commanding 4-0 victory over South Melbourne to claim the Shield, presented by Bronwyn Halfpenny MP.
Greek Community of Melbourne President Bill Papastergiadis declared, “Our Community was the real winner today. Sport brings people together, and this tournament showcased the very best of our youth and passion for football.”
Tournament organiser and Board Member Michael Karamitos added: “What an incredible spectacle. Both teams played with tremendous spirit – congratulations to Bentleigh Greens on lifting the Cup and to Box Hill for an unforgettable performance.”
